As we approach Valentine’s Day – 2012, it is only fitting to point California readers to the Partner Thai Yoga workshops, coming up
February 11th, at Purple Yoga in Tustin, Orange County and on
February 12th, at Black Dog Yoga in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. These interactive, guided classes are not part of the deonThai METHOD Practitioner Training program designed specifically for body workers or yoga teachers, but rather for anyone who wishes to find more ways to enhance a relationship with a partner.
Each three-hour workshop will focus on improving intimacy through touch and help participants lose any fear of touching or being touched. I think there is a huge need for more connection through touch in our world and this work lends itself to the idea that intimacy between people can be deepened in more ways than just sexual activity. And it’s not just these few days around Valentine’s Day – but every day, all through the year – that we should treat each other well and be able to demonstrate our mutual appreciation.
I can teach non-professionals how to heal by giving a foot massage, or stretching their partner out, or by offering a neck massage for relief of migraines and other ailments. The workshops give you the experience of many techniques that you can do with your partner – or even on other family and friends. Whether you think of it as a special date-night/afternoon activity, or an integral part of your ongoing physical and mental health, the deepened connection created through nurturing touch is something we can all experience and benefit from.
I particularly enjoy leading these Guided Partner Thai Yoga workshops because the sessions are a gift of love and affection that are available to everybody, and not just those who study the healing arts. I’m thrilled to be able to offer two different times and locations just before Valentine’s Day.
Whatever our views are about the public commercialization of one particular calendar date to focus on love, none of us would deny the beauty of bonding and connecting with those we most care about – which is something that can start in February (or any other time) and continue on, through every day of the year.
Very much looking forward to seeing you there.
