Deon de Wet first discovered Traditional Thai Massage in the year 2000, on a beach on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand, while on vacation from the corporate management position he held in Los Angeles.

Since then, he has dedicated his life to a consistent process of learning, practice, teaching and renewal of the fascinating art of Therapeutic Thai Yoga Massage.

Although Deon’s style of practice has evolved into a more contemporary approach, better suited for a wider range of Western clientele, he remains fully committed to honoring the ancient lineage of his teachers, always respecting the Essential Goodness of Traditional Thai Medicine.

Deon’s influences flow from the ages-old, indigenous Thai Shamanic healing practices; to the teachings of the Buddha and his physician: the Father Doctor Shivago; to the Wat Pho Temple School in Bangkok; Ajahn Sintorn and The Old Medicine Hospital in Chiang Mai; his first teacher in the USA: Saul David Raye; and his legendary teacher: Asokananda; Master Teacher Pichest, in Thailand; and eventually to Dr. C. Pierce Salguero: Professor of Asian Healing Studies at Pennsylvania State University.

Deon also credits his background as a certified Hatha Yoga instructor for providing the foundation for his success as first a healing practitioner and then later as an international teacher/trainer of people yearning to help others feel better in body, mind and spirit.

For this, he would like to acknowledge and honor all of his various teachers and gurus, who have shone their lights so brightly for him over the years he has travelled this path, saying that:

“The amazing teachers in my lineage have all somehow helped me aspire towards a sincere commitment to the ongoing practice of “Right Attitude”, where the power of Love reigns supreme and where my main objective as Healer & Teacher is the reduction of suffering and the expansion of joy, for all Beings in this big, wide and wonderful world…”

The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) has certified Deon de Wet as an Approved Provider of Continuing Education.
He is also sponsored by NCBTMB to teach New York LMTs continuing education that is accepted by the State of New York for license renewal.
